i think i may have hurt my eyes for staring into the sun too long trying to witness the eclipse a few minutes ago. it's still eclipsing as i am writing, but as always, i dont have the patience to see things through. and also because i'm already seeing dark spots where there's supposed to be white, and white spots where there's supposed to be black. bijak laksana bulan aku ni tengok gerhana matahari dengan mata kasar. my dad thought me once to look at it through the reflection on the water the last time i saw it with him when i was little. excitement and old age doesnt really gel. it made me forget all these crucial life lessons. now im seeing things. if i didnt realize that i did this to myself, i may have to assume correctly that i am really losing it.
we cleaned the house! fyi, new readers, we dont have the privilege to have a maid. the last maid situation we had was when i was around 6 and my mom drew the last draw with them and decided to send us to our neighbours to be babysat between school and before mom and dad gets home. housechores were divided between us all - and will only usually happen during weekends. mom did all the hard work, we the kids did the simple works. mom would wash the clothes, cook and clean the house, i would hang the clothes to dry, unhang them and my brothers would fold them. we were trained from a really young age to do housechores.
by the time i had my period, i'd help mom do most of the housechores, except for cooking. i refuse to learn how to cook because i was afraid, if i knew how to cook, it would be a permanent job for me. no thank you. at this time i was so sure i'd be having my own cook when i got married to a filthy rich man. so, when mom said "nanti you kawin nanti lisha ... " only translated as blah blah blah.
shouldve listened to her.
so now, with all of us working, weekends are the only time to do housechores. and with the baby around, it's kinda hard to vacuum and dust and sweep things unless she's out of the house. my mom would normally do the cleaning when we're out with the baby, but she wont go into our room. which is why, the dust build up in there is despicable.
today, ayis vacuumed and worked our room, getting rid of some of his bujang junk. rearranging the furniture to more (imagined) zen-like ying-yang voodoo-juju mambo-jambo situation. when ayis was consulting me about the arrangements, i heard vivian too's grandmother in my head going "no mirrors facing the foot of the bed, very bad for marriage, invites unharmony and only kinky if both people in the couple are hot, which in your case, neither are."
i worked everywhere else, sweeping, wiping, mopping. by noon, we're already done and pretty tired. so we lepak watching the tv and caught a long afternoon nap. what a bliss. had maggi noodle for lunch and napped again. only to be woken up by a phone call from dad telling me to look at the solar eclipse. kacau only, now see lah i hurt my eyes.
im not sure if arwen is coming home tonight. because when dad called at almost 6, they were still in JB. i hope they are coming home tonight. i miss her so badly that im afraid i may start babyblabbering at my husband.
