here's another new song by Jason Mraz that I can't stop listening to. i can literally listen to this 93 million times. i hope this is the next single, but i think the world as i see it would be the next one coming up. but i dont know, here's hoping. also hoping that he'll re-introduce Plane in the new album just like he did with I'm Yours. it's been in most of his setlists in his current shows.

i'm loving this song right now. found out about Young The Giant when they performed in the last MTV VMAs and then the song came up again on the latest episode of Hawaii 5-0. i've been listening to this song in particular since yesterday morning. IT'S ALL I LISTEN TO. sampai dah hafal the lyrics.



the lead vocalist, Sameer Ghadia, sounds a lot like Paolo Nutini. i think that's why i'm loving the sounds of Young The Giant so much.

my brother once introduced me to Boyce Avenue with their cover of Rihanna's Umbrella. i've heard a lot of Umbrella cover and spin offs but Boyce Avenue is by far one of the best. better even than Marie Digby's cover that had shot her to instant fame. (the other one would be Mandy Moore's cover). here's a sample :

you know i follow Grey's Anatomy like a clingy child, right? yup, and you've probably heard how much i raved on about the previous musical episode on twitter, right? and you're probably pissed off because i gave away too much, right? sorry. it was too beautiful an episode i can't shut up about.

i've always loved sara ramirez aka dr callie torres since she came into the picture. i am a bit of a homophobe, so some scenes of her being a lesbian kinda makes me cringe but man, can the woman act and sing. and the latest episode is all about her. and she sings in there too. like all the time, singing.

and of all the songs she sang in the episode ... i love this one the most. it's from Brandi Carlile and Sara's version is pretty awesome too.

G. Love is one of Jason Mraz's friends, and T. Prettyman is, yeah .. Mraz's fiance. I just found this song. i'm loving it!

currently loving this song, Falling in love at a coffee shop by Landon Pigg. This song reminds me of the movie Before Sunset. (before sunrise and before sunset are 2 of my favorite movies of all time.)

this song has been my earworm before a long time ago, but when the news of Jason Mraz getting engaged to Tristan Prettyman came out, i'm loving this song over and over again because i'm seeing it in a different, sweeter light. because of the history of their relationship.



that was the live acoustic version for when they both were starting out as performers. i also love the studio version from T.P's album Twentythree. (23 is a significant number for both Jason and Tristan)



fangirl fast fact : this song was actually written when they first met and both were too shy to talk to each other, both jual mahal lah so to speak. but they somehow managed to write a song together about how they want to get together but they're being too coy and shy about making the first move. complicatedly cute, kan?

and then they got together as a couple for a while from 2001 up to 2006 (or something) before Tristan called it off just before one of Jason's gigs in Europe on Valentine's no less. She just called him up and broke it off but he was cool about it, went on with the show. (edited 7/1/11 : ok, sorry. they both wanted to end it. just found Tristan's side of the story when i read her blog here.) anyway, they got together again this year and got engaged just before Christmas. Jason told in detail about how much thought he had put into designing the ring and proposal. i died a bit reading it. no, not because he's getting married, but because he's such a romantic.

while i'm on the subject of dying of romance, watch this one too and witness how he can't take his eyes off of her (especially towards the end). and how she stole a peck on the cheek at the end of the song. and then, a few days after this show, he proposed to her. died or what?



i dont know how i know all this stuff, but i do. i'm a fan. go away.

Jason Mraz introduced this girl on his Facebook page (coz she'll be on tour with him) and I immediately fell in love with her sound. I'm pretty sure this will be my earworm for the week.

nope. not the rihanna version. i don't like rihanna for some reason. but i love love love this cover by jamie cullum. i actually saw this video clip light years back. reloving it right now. yeah, fine, he looks like a hobbit. but aren't you just swooned by that voice? send tingles down my spine!




oh, while we're at it, i love his cover of radiohead's high & dry too.

inappropriate song choice

there was this one weekend they were having a kids event at wangsawalk mall. and the kids were playing something like a musical chair kind-of game. and guess what song was blaring? Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.

ok, given that i hate Lady Gaga but this is not hater's rage. i seriously think that the song is just inappropriate for kids for anything. yes, i agree that the song is catchy and has a fun beat. but heck man, with lyrics like "i want your psycho, i want your vertigo stick, i want you in my rear.. window, baby you're sick" .... i do not want my kid to learn the song, ever.

last week, we went back to kuantan for a doa selamat/tahlil and of course, there were kids. and some of them were playing "follow the leader". the 'leader' had an ipod in his ear and he was singing aloud, "You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere.." and the rest of the kids followed. i raised an eyebrow a few times but what can i say? those aren't my kids.

anyway, speaking of Bad Romance, my brother Faiz gave me one of the best covers of the song. i'd never listen to Gaga, but i don't mind 30 seconds to mars. also because jared leto is yummeh.

movie review : when in rome

we just installed the 20mbps Unifi at home and we've all gone bonkers freeloading stuff off the internet. dahlah so speedy, download 5 movies and watch one movie and by the time the movie ends, the downloads pun siap. hell yeah man, now this is what you call broadband! well yeah, the cost of sustaining it can power a small town for a week but to think that we never have to go out to watch movie or buy DVDs again makes it all worth it.

so anyway. since i do not feel pathetic anymore and able stay up-to-date (kinda) with the latest movies (sortta) these days, i shall update this section pretty regularly. i've watched a few movies since the installation but i'll review it one by one, okay?



one movie that i really wanted to watch was When In Rome, coz i knew that Jason Mraz had a new unreleased song featured in there. and you know how obsessed i can get with jason mraz. so anyway, i finally managed to get my hands on a copy of the movie.

first few seconds was promising, coz it played jason mraz's song. first few minutes seems okay too. and finally, ROME! so nice, so pretty, i wanna go there someday. and then back to the states for the rest 50 minutes of the movie. that's it? no more rome? i thought the movie was all about rome! such a killjoy! i rather watch Leap Year for the third time coz at least it's consistently set in Ireland. and Josh Duhamel just fails me. romantic or comedy just does not fit him. lagilah pulak slapstick comedy. he was trying too hard to be funny. all in all, the movie was such a let down, safe for a couple and a half memorable moments. i think the only thing that kept me interested was the soundtrack.

First Jason Mraz (yeay!), and then Paolo Nutini (another yeah!), and then the best part of it was Adele's cover of Bob Dylan's 'Make You Feel My Love'. and the other songs in between those were not too bad. i actually don't mind having the soundtrack in my collection.

falie and i recently discovered this brooding scottish-italian music wonder on tv the other day. his name is Paolo Nutini and i immediately fell in love with his song (candy, live session at wilton music hall), his voice, his guitar strumming, his face, his mysteriousness. and then i went on a crazed quest looking for all of his songs and then i've been blasting him on a loop. safe to say, he got me through the hellish night i had in the office last night. this is more love than i have for jason mraz. it is that good.

he looks young (and yummy), but his voice and style has this sexy old-soul vibe going on about him. his voice is really versatile. in one song, he sounds like bob dylan and the in a few other songs, he sounds like ben harper meet damien rice meet glen hansard meet eddie vedder meet michael stipe. what is it with the scotts and the irish? they're really, really inspiring singer-songwriters. and they're great writers. it's all that rain, i reckon.

current earworm : hide and seek (awesomest cover ever)

if you know me, you'd realize that i have a very eclectic music preference. i don't know much about music, but i like what i like. most people can't accept what i listen to (husband, mom, some friends) because the music i listen to are sometimes very different and totally unheard of.

case in point, imogen heap. i've loved imogen heap since she was the half of frou frou. now disbanded, imogen heap has come up with more and more interesting earworms for me. among which is Hide and Seek. the husband hates it whenever this song appears in my roadtrip compilations. he'd quickly skip this song. mom also complains that this song makes her want to doze off. but i like it! and my brothers like it too.

so, anyway, a couple of days ago, falie found this cover of the song by Josh Fredette. and i think it's by far the best cover ever! I LOVE IT! i think the husband and mom would prefer this version too.
