they say my daughter looks a lot like me...

people who knew me when i was little - family, friends of parents, neighbours - when they look at my daughter, say that she looks a lot like i did when i was a toddler. i never really took it seriously because every time we go to Ayis' side of the family, they say that Arwen looks a lot like her dad, or her uncle. i figured they (both from my side and the husband's) were merely bias comments. everybody would favour the person they know best. typical lah kan?

but while i was going through the boxes of old photos to choose to be facebook worthy, i came across one of my old photos, taken when i was celebrating my 3rd birthday, or probably it was someone else's birthday that i hijacked, i don't remember. this was one of the most uncanny of photos ever because imediatly when i saw that photo i shouted to my mom, "OMG! this is exactly like Arwen!" my daughter looks EXACTLY like me! even i myself was totally amazed by it.

the cheeks, the lips, the eyes, the bangs, even the natural and stubborn curls that only curl on the left side of the face (i still have the problem by the way). it's one of those moments that i love about being a mom. i mean after all that effort of being pregnant for 8 something months, and the painkiller-free labour and the sleepless nights and the painful boobs and the things i have to go through to undo the flabby tummy and saggy tits, having a daughter that take after me makes it all worth it!
