why ayis and i havent really been sleeping since wednesday

i know, baru 2 nights but i think this sleeplessness will continue on until we find a new sitter for arwen come november. ok so here's the story, i'll go from the start in case you have no idea what i'm talking about.

since arwen's 2+ months old, or since i've finished my maternity leave on November of 2008, we've been sending arwen to my neighbour's place a few doors down. our nice neighbour, who's actually kinda like my mom's mak angkat of sorts (coz we've been staying there for as long as i have lived) was the one who volunteered to take care of arwen when we were busy asking around at neighbours if they're willing to take care of my daughter for three days a week. she said that her maid Su likes kids and she'd be happy to take care of arwen. yeay! problem solved.

for now.

and we were really glad that they're arwen's daysitter. coz my neighbour, and her husband (pangkat moyang with arwen) are former teachers so they, as teachers will always be, naturally teach arwen. since a baby, arwen's been exposed to mengaji and spelling, and solat and so many things. we're so blessed she's in a good, interactive and educational environment. and they're only babysitting arwen alone, no other kids. meaning it's all focus and attention on her (some say that's bad coz that would make Arwen really manja. but i take manja any day than having my kid complain that she's been hit or bitten by other kids in the nursery, or by maid at home). only occasionally other neighbors will send their kids there for a while so arwen gets some socializing time. And Su, the maid, who's most of the time, the one who looks after arwen's needs is such a wonderful girl. she's good at it and she loves arwen to death.

so now, we have a problem. my mom got news on wednesday from Su that she'll be leaving to go back home to Indonesia sometime in November. for a while? for good? she doesn't know yet. mom told us and i almost got a heart attack. in our heart, we'd want to counter offer su and get her to work with us once she comes back here but we don't have a room for her at our place. when my mom asked Su why she's leaving, tak kesian ke kat Arwen. Su cried and told her it's hard to let Arwen go.

argh! i hate this. i hate not knowing what to do next. i hate the uncertainty. i hate the sleepless nights. i do not want to send arwen to a nursery because, one, arwen's not used being with a house full of kids. and two, i do not trust nurseries. and i'm contemplating about getting a maid. of course it'd be good to have one so she can help my mom around the house, to cook and take care of arwen. but from what i learn from mom about maids is that they can't really be trusted. apparently according to my mom, when i was 1 1/2 years old, the maid ran away. my uncle, who used to stay with us when he was a bachelor, came home from work to find me sleeping and no one else at home. scary right? lagi-lagi pulak arwen is a total diva. sometimes even we lose patience with Arwen, ni kan lagi total stranger. kena pasang hidden camera to monitor what's going on.

i'm panicking.

no wonder you can't get any sleep. I wouldn't too if I was in your position. It's horrible trying to find someone who can and will take care of your child, someone who you can trust to do it. Good luck dear. I pray that everything works out for you and lil Arwen. Insya Allah some good will come out of this whole thing.

yeah, i ended up getting a maid AND had cctv installed in the house. so far so good, but i can never trust the maid. nor can i trust a nursery either, so the maid is the lesser evil. sigh. i know i'm not being helpful, but if push comes to shove a maid is really better than a nursery... and when you do you gotta invest in that cctv thing.
