this morning, i went for my postponed scheduled MOGTT (modified oral glucose tolerance test) or blood sugar test in english. gosh, i'm starting to sound like falie with all the random medical abbreviations and terms only understood by people with a MD at the back of their names.
i passed.
but not without giving the doctor a few scares though. the first test, the fasting test, i was at 2.8 which makes me hypoglycemic. the doctor was scared that i might faint anytime. and then i had to come back in an hour's time after drinking really sweet glucose water the nurse made. and then my reading went up the roof at 6.0. crazy. then i had to come back within an hour. scared that i might not make the walk to and back from the office, i stayed at the reception for a full hour reading parental magazines and posters and counting ceiling panels. final check - 3.4 - normal (the doctor was even praying for me to have a normal reading). so, pheww.
and whilst i was waiting, this lady came waddling in with her huge belly and gave me a smile. she went into the doctor's office and by the time she came out, she was in labour and was immediately sent to the labour room. gila scary weh. but she looked so relaxed. not showing any contractions or anything. i, on the other hand was the one panicking. wondering, when it is my turn, will i be as calm. but knowing me, i guess that's a far cry lah kan? i think i'll be the typical drama queen that i am, crawling up the the stairs to the labour room, ordering my husband around to get me everything, hee-hee-hoo-ing for dear life, telling my mom to shut up one minute and then crying and apologizing to her not stop for being such a terrible daughter the next ... i'll be such a wonderful person to be around with, won't i?
